Originally from Hearst, Ontario, Phil has always been involved in every competitive sport available in the area. In 2013, Phil started CrossFit and has now been a coach since 2014. ‍ Phil’s primary focus is to help others achieve their fitness and health goals all in an energetic and motivational environment. He loves to have the opportunity to be part of this community and to help others experience the same thing he did when he first started CrossFit.

Originally from Charlottetown, PEI, Kyle took a chance and moved to Ottawa in 2012 and now has what he calls, his second home. Kyle found an absolute passion for the fitness industry once he became a personal trainer in 2012. With several years of personal training experience, Kyle decided to venture into the world of CrossFit and hasn’t looked back since. The immense respect Kyle has for CrossFit and what it stands for made him take the leap into becoming an athlete and Coach in the industry. Several years later, this led to him becoming Co-Owner of Orleans CrossFit. Kyle’s passion for helping others reach their goals, whether in fitness or life is what motivates him to become better and better at leading by example and really striving to get the best out of any situation or circumstance life throws at us. Kyle wants to share his passion and knowledge of this industry with as many people as he possibly can in hopes of changing lives one workout at a time.

Born and raised in Coaticook, Québec, Nancy moved to the Ottawa region in 1997. She has loved sports since she was young, enjoying every different discipline that crossed her path (with very few exceptions). She has a bachelor’s in physical education and was an aerobics coach for many years, but most of her career was spent in the public service of Canada where she held a variety of functions. ‍ In 2016, Nancy tried out Crossfit and quickly found a new passion. After many years as an athlete, she completed her Crossfit Level 1 in 2022 and is now a Crossfit Level 2 certified coach. ‍ After twenty years as a public servant, Nancy wanted a new challenge. She strived for something that would shake her routine, put her physical education expertise to good use, and allow her to have a meaningful impact on people’s fitness journey. Her boundless energy, her complete dedication to everything that she does and her desire to share her passion for Crossfit with others lead her to Orleans CrossFit, where she has found a team with her values, help people succeed.

Nathalie’s CrossFit journey started in 2011 at the age of 40 (you’re never too young to start). At the call of 3,2,1…go, she knew CrossFit was what was missing to fill the void of what was previously a very active lifestyle. The community aspect of CrossFit and constantly being challenged was her jam. ‍ She did the CrossFit Open in 2012 not knowing where the path of her journey was leading her by qualifying for the CrossFit Games as part of a team. Competing on the international stage in Carson, California lit up her competitive “beastness,” and with hard work and dedication, she returned to the Games in 2013 as an individual Masters athlete, 2014 qualifying for both Masters and team but competed as part of the team and again in 2017 as a Masters athlete, this time in Madison. Most recently, Nathalie competed in Madison again for her 5th CrossFit Games in 2022. Nathalie is energetic, always smiling, and thinks every WOD is fun and awesome regardless of how challenging they are. She enjoys coaching and sharing her experiences and knowledge with those on the path of wellness and fitness. ‍ She coaches Monday mornings, Thursday evenings at 5:30 and 6:30 and Friday evenings at 5:30. Come try one of her classes…you’ll be jamming to great music while doing fitness with your friends and be fitter than the day before. Outside of training and coaching, Nathalie works full-time and has 3 teenagers keeping her busy.

Derek grew up in the small town of Hawkesbury, between Ottawa and Montreal. He grew up as a sports fanatic. He not only watched, but also played as many sports growing up as possible. ‍ He excelled in hockey and golf, but was a very rounded athlete. He won male athlete of the year in his high school graduating class. Derek took that love and is passionate for sports and fitness and made a career with it. His journey started at the University of Ottawa, where he completed both his Bachelors in Human Kinetics and his Masters in Sport Administration. This is also where his physical training and fitness journey began. ‍ Derek had been a personal trainer for 5 or 6 years before he started CrossFit in 2016. This type of training to him was something that he wasn’t used to as he specialized in general hypertrophy programs as well as golf specific personal training. It wasn’t too long after his entry into the CrossFit world that Derek started coaching. He was hooked, both by the methodology and the sense of community in the CrossFit gyms. ‍ Even though Derek now works full time with the Canadian Military in Fitness and Sports, CrossFit still holds a special place in his heart as he continues to coach part time, train full time, and compete 3-4 times per year at a high level. Going on 6 years of coaching now, Derek still has the passion and drive to help make every person in his classes become a better athlete and provide them the tools to achieve all of their personal goals. ‍ You can catch Derek on a weekly basis on Monday and Friday coaching the 3:30pm and 4:30pm classes. He really looks forward to meeting each and everyone of the new faces that enter the OCFit building.

Tracy was Born and raised in Montreal. She played numerous sports but primarily focused on soccer. ‍ In her adult life, she wanted to increase her overall strength and performance but became bored of the local gym. In 2015 she decided to try CrossFit and instantly fell in love with the community, its challenge, and the variety of functional movements. ‍ Tracy is extremely detail oriented when it comes to her training as well as her coaching. She enjoys keeping the class fun but pushes the members to their full potential. You’ll often hear her over everyone else when someone PR’s in her class.

Growing up playing competitive hockey, Matt developed a lifelong passion for performance and movement. With a Bachelor of Kinesiology and a Doctorate of Chiropractic, he brings both academic expertise and hands-on experience to the gym. As a full-time chiropractor and a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, Matt is committed to helping athletes move well, avoid injury, and unlock their potential. ‍ Outside the gym, he enjoys life with his wife, young son, and two energetic dogs.

Hailing from the United Kingdom. Sam has been playing and coaching sport since he was 15 years old. He was introduced to CrossFit in 2020 and hasn’t looked back since. He’s our resident rowing expert, having rowed at an elite level between 2013 and 2019, he’s passionate and knowledgeable about strength & conditioning, aerobic fitness and rowing technique. ‍ Sam loves the process of improving physically and technically every day and that drives his coaching. He’s looking for all the 1% changes that can take your health, fitness, and enjoyment to the next level. ‍ He believes that strength training and physical activity can change your life and keep you moving forever. That’s what motivates him to spread knowledge and empower all the athletes he comes into contact with.

Justine Ste-Marie

Justine Ste-Marie has always been someone who needs to move-ever since she can remember. Her early passion for gymnastics shaped much of her life. Not only did she dedicate herself to the sport as a young athlete, but she also began coaching both recreational and competitive gymnastics at the young age of 14. ‍ With a natural connection to children, Justine has spent her entire career working with kids. She finds joy in helping them discover the power and potential of their own bodies, encouraging them to push themselves and grow through movement. Her love of physical activity extends far beyond gymnastics; today, she enjoys a wide variety of sports including volleyball, soccer, and snowboarding. ‍ At home, Justine is surrounded by the energy and love of her five favorite boys-her husband and their four sons-who keep life just as active and full as she likes it.
