Originally from Hearst, Ontario, Phil has always been involved in every competitive sport available in the area. In 2013, Phil started CrossFit and has now been a coach since 2014. Phil's primary focus is to help others achieve their fitness and health goals all in an energetic and motivational environment. He loves having the opportunity to be part of this community and to help others experience the same thing he did when he first started CrossFit.

Originally from Charlottetown, PEI, Kyle took a chance and moved to Ottawa in 2012 and now has what he calls his second home. Kyle found an absolute passion for the fitness industry once he became a personal trainer in 2012. With several years of personal training experience, Kyle decided to venture into the world of CrossFit and hasn't looked back since. Kyle's passion for helping others reach their goals, whether in fitness or life, is what motivates him to lead by example and get the best out of any situation life throws our way.

Born and raised in Coaticook, Québec, Nancy moved to the Ottawa region in 1997. She has loved sports since she was young. She holds a Bachelor's in Physical Education and was an aerobics coach for many years. In 2016, Nancy tried CrossFit and quickly found a new passion. After twenty years as a public servant, she wanted a new challenge that would put her physical-education expertise to good use and let her have a meaningful impact on people's fitness journeys. Her boundless energy and dedication led her to Orleans CrossFit, where she has found a team that shares her values.

Nathalie Connors, Chief Happiness Officer & Coach at Orleans CrossFit

Nathalie's CrossFit journey started in 2011 at age 40, you're never too young to start. She qualified for the CrossFit Games in 2012 as part of a team and returned in 2013, 2014, 2017, and 2022 as a Masters athlete. Nathalie is energetic, always smiling, and thinks every WOD is fun regardless of how challenging. She coaches Monday mornings, Thursday evenings at 5:30 and 6:30, and Friday evenings at 5:30. Outside of training and coaching, she works full time and has three teenagers keeping her busy.

Derek Lacelle, Coach at Orleans CrossFit

Derek grew up in Hawkesbury, between Ottawa and Montreal, as a sports fanatic. He won Male Athlete of the Year in his high-school graduating class, completed a BSc in Human Kinetics and a Masters in Sport Administration at the University of Ottawa, and was a personal trainer for 5–6 years before starting CrossFit in 2016. Derek now works full time with the Canadian Military in Fitness and Sports while still coaching the 3:30pm and 4:30pm classes on Monday and Friday. He competes 3–4 times a year at a high level and still has the passion and drive to help every athlete in his classes get better.

Tracy Lavell, Coach at Orleans CrossFit

Tracy was born and raised in Montreal, playing numerous sports with a primary focus on soccer. As an adult she wanted to increase her overall strength and performance but became bored of the local gym. In 2015 she tried CrossFit and instantly fell in love with the community, the challenge, and the variety of functional movements. Tracy is extremely detail-oriented in her training and coaching, keeps class fun, and pushes members to their full potential. You'll often hear her over everyone else when someone PR's in her class.

Matt McKeagan, Coach at Orleans CrossFit

Growing up playing competitive hockey, Matt developed a lifelong passion for performance and movement. With a Bachelor of Kinesiology and a Doctorate of Chiropractic, he brings both academic expertise and hands-on experience to the gym. As a full-time chiropractor and CF-L2 Trainer, Matt is committed to helping athletes move well, avoid injury, and unlock their potential. Outside the gym he enjoys life with his wife, young son, and two energetic dogs.

Sam Tunbridge, Coach at Orleans CrossFit

Hailing from the United Kingdom, Sam has been playing and coaching sport since he was 15. He was introduced to CrossFit in 2020 and hasn't looked back since. He's our resident rowing expert, having rowed at an elite level from 2013 to 2019, and is passionate and knowledgeable about strength & conditioning, aerobic fitness, and rowing technique. Sam is always looking for the 1% changes that take your health, fitness, and enjoyment to the next level.

Justine Ste-Marie, Kids Coach at Orleans CrossFit

Justine has always been someone who needs to move, ever since she can remember. Her early passion for gymnastics shaped much of her life. She not only dedicated herself to the sport as a young athlete, but also began coaching both recreational and competitive gymnastics at age 14. With a natural connection to children, Justine has spent her entire career working with kids, helping them discover the power and potential of their own bodies through movement. At home she's surrounded by her five favourite boys, her husband and their four sons, who keep life as active and full as she likes it.

Jayson Lucas, Coach at Orleans CrossFit

Born and raised in Ottawa, Jayson's athletic journey took a defining turn in 2017 when he discovered CrossFit, and never looked back. After years of competitive powerlifting, the transition to CrossFit came naturally. What truly hooked him, however, was the energy of the community and the intensity of the workouts. That passion quickly evolved into commitment: Jayson earned his CrossFit Level 1 certification and has been coaching since 2020. His drive and dedication led him to the ultimate milestone, competing at the 2024 CrossFit Games. Today, Jayson brings his expertise to a wide range of athletes. He coaches football teams, hockey teams, FLEX athletes, HYROX competitors, and strength-focused Lift classes, helping each athlete unlock their potential through smart programming, discipline, and a genuine love for the sport.
